A death investigation is underway after police shot and killed a person in Torrance, on Monday evening.
Officers were called to the 2900 block of Oregon Court, near Maple Avenue, to investigate a “suspicious circumstances call,” according to the Torrance Police Department.
At some point after their arrival, police shot a suspect they encountered at the scene. It’s unclear what led to the shooting.
SkyCal flew overhead, where a white canopy covered a person’s body in the middle of Oregon Court, in between two police patrol cars. The trunk and doors of a nearby sedan were also ajar, but it’s unclear if it was related to the matter.
“We recognize the seriousness of this incident and understand the concerns it raises within our community,” said a statement from TPD. “There is no danger to the community members.”
